Our International Experiences

Here at MrKortingscode we love travelling and learning about new cultures! Therefore we have created a scholarship that we hope will encourage students to fulfill their aspirations of studying abroad. We call this initiative the CouponCode.ng’s Study Abroad Scholarship. We would like to share some of our own experiences of working and studying abroad.

Hopefully our stories will give you inspiration and courage to follow your dreams.

Susanne Christensen – Project Manager

I am originally from Denmark but I have worked and studied in London, Berlin and Amsterdam. After I completed my master’s degree at the University of Amsterdam I decided to stay in the city. I simply couldn’t get enough of the lively atmosphere and the beautiful canals! More than two years later I still live in the Netherlands where I have been lucky to find a job as a project manager here at MrKortingscode.

I would advise anyone thinking about studying abroad to just go for it! Gaining international experience can definitely help you in your future career. But most importantly, living abroad can be a fun way to learn about a new culture!

Jasper van der Eerden – SEO Marketeer
During my bachelor International Business I studied in Madrid for half a year. I have to say, it was the best time of my studies. In an exchange semester you meet so many new people, some of which are still my friends. The experience of managing yourself in a different country, far from home, is life changing. It can be overwhelming in the beginning, but you’ll manage and you will have a great time. You’ll learn about completely different cultures, and it will improve your possible career chances. So when you are presented the opportunity, I advise to take the chance.

Jildau van der Pal – Team Manager Generic

Studying in Sønderborg, Denmark, was one of the best experiences I’ve had so far. Student life in Groningen was great, being an exchange student was even better. Because all students left their country for this exchange semester, everyone was open to make new friends. I’m still in touch with a lot of them, we have reunions sometimes and two girls became real friends.

Besides my exchange semester in Sønderborg, I’ve been a mentor and introduction guide for international students in Groningen. Here I’ve seen that for some students the start can be tough. However, I’ve never met someone regretting to move abroad to study. Living and studying in a different country is nice way to learn about different cultures and to get to know yourself.

Daniela Brandt – Project Manager

In 2014 I gained the opportunity to work abroad. Back then, I was Project Manager in a German Ticketing company that was the official ticketing provider for the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi 2014. As I knew from my Erasmus year in Slovenia being abroad can be life changing, I didn’t hesitate to take this chance. For three months I became Key Client Coordinator to help the Olympic Committee in selling tickets to key clients (such as sponsors like McDonald’s) and monitor several IT systems.

Those three months were overwhelming. Being part of such a huge project and working together with an international team is a once in a lifetime experience. I learned a lot about intercultural communication as well as international project and event planning. Whenever receiving the chance to gain experience abroad I would take it and also advice this to everyone else.
